Bitterroot Lake is actually Little Bitterroot Lake, but is more commonly referred to simply as Bitterroot Lake.
The lake is located approximately 35 minutes west of Kalispell. Much of the access is by paved roads.
The lake is 2941 acres in size with a maximum recorded depth of 246 feet.
The water quality is very good. Water monitoring conducted from 1999 through 2012 has indicated that nutrient concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus have generally been decreasing. Boating traffic activity can be considered moderate to light according to Western Montana standards. You won’t be fighting boating crowds on Montana’s Bitterroot Lake.
Real estate buyers should consider Bitterroot Lake if they are looking for a more affordable lake front property.
Bitterroot Lake is an excellent fishery. It is one of Northwest Montana’s better lakes for Kokanee Salmon fishing as well as fishing for big Rainbow Trout.
Bitterroot Lake in Northwest Montana is an excellent option for the waterfront real estate buyer that wants a quieter lake with perhaps a more private and spacious lot. It’s one of my favorites.
